Great Lakes Manufacturing Council

Working Together

“The Great Lakes Manufacturing Council offers a unique opportunity for eight states and two Canadian provinces to pursue powerful strategies to restore a strong and growing manufacturing sector in a regional economy with extraordinary assets.”

—Emily Stover DeRocco, President, The Manufacturing Institute & Senior Vice President, National Association of Manufacturers

Manufacturing Policy

9 Participants at the Great Lakes Manufacturing Forum in Chicago outlined the need for a focus on manufacturing policy in light of the severe economic downturn that began in late 2007 and the lingering weakness in its wake. The Council is compiling and comparing public policy recommendations of key organizations interested in the success of manufacturing in our region. Our objective is to call attention to the most common areas of agreement as benchmarks for policy-makers. The Council will also plan periodic dialogues to focus on similarities, differences, and priorities.
