Sean Ryan
Director of University Engagement at Fort Wayne
Sean Ryan is the Director of University Engagement at Fort Wayne. The office, located at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center across from the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) campus, was created in January, 2006 by IIPFW, Purdue University, Indiana University, and the Northeast Indiana Corporate Council. It serves as Purdue's main outreach liaison for business, industry and educational partnerships in northeast Indiana. It operates as a key contact for Purdue's Technical Assistance Program, the Purdue Research Park's high-tech business incubation complex, Purdue's Statewide Technology Program and Discovery Park.
Ryan is no stranger to Fort Wayne or the corporate community. He spent 12 years in various positions with Michelin Tire, ten of which were at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Woodburn. He also worked in industrial engineering, human resources at both the plant and corporate level, and operations. His educational background includes BE and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University, a BA in business administration from Columbia College, and an MBA from Indiana Tech. He also spent four years as an officer in the U.S. Navy where he was an instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Florida.
